TEAMC Meeting Highlights
The Transportation Equity Allied Movement Coalition (TEAMC) hosted a series of forums in April and May to discuss the state of transportation in San Mateo County. The coalition is led by Youth Leadership Institute (YLI), which is a youth-led organization advocating for social justice issues throughout the county. Our community health planner, Heather Arata, presented our recent research featured in Creating Safer Streets Near Schools, Prioritizing Health in Transportation, at TEAMC’s April 26th transportation forum. This event was hosted at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School in Daly City, one of the schools identified in the report as being located in an area of high poverty and frequent collisions, and the school with the highest count of bike or pedestrian collisions of any public elementary school in the county. The forum discussed the findings from the report, as well as TEAMC’s recent survey on transportation in the County. To learn more about TEAMC or YLI and how you can get involved, click here!
