Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day! November 14
In 2018, a group of students from Martin Elementary in South San Francisco came up with the idea for Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. They were inspired after learning about Ruby Bridges and her bravery nearly 60 years ago. Ruby made history by being one of the first Black students to integrate an all-white school. These students wanted a special day to honor Ruby and the movement she started. They took their idea to the California State Legislature, and now every year on November 14, the state recognizes Ruby Bridges Walk to School Day. If your school hasn’t signed up yet, you can sign up here.
