Nutritious School Lunches Improve Test Scores
A recent study conducted by researchers from UC Berkeley found that schools that offered healthy lunches showed a four-percentile improvement in test scores above those in schools with less-healthy meals. A switch to healthier meals at schools has also been shown to reduce food waste, increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, and, of course, improve learning. According to the report, nutrition can affect learning through three channels: physical development (sight), cognition (concentration, memory), and behavior (hyperactivity).
