New Resources on Community Trauma Inform Our Work

Post

The CCCS initiative is a trauma-informed effort to support children’s success in the places where they are most challenged. We have spent a lot of time thinking about the community-level trauma that many children face on a daily basis. Fostering community resilience is an important aspect of addressing community-level trauma. Prevention Institute has released new resources exploring community resilience as follow up to their 2016 report, Adverse Community Experiences and ResilienceWhat? Why? How? Answers to Frequently Asked Questions about the Adverse Community Experiences and Resilience Framework helps operationalize and clarify approaches to community trauma. Prevention Institute also created case studies for local initiatives, including BRIDGE Housing’s approach to trauma-informed community building in San Francisco public housing communities and violence prevention efforts in East San Jose. These examples are broadly applicable as we explore the impacts and approaches to community trauma in our CCCS neighborhoods.
