On May 3rd, the School Wellness Alliance came together to view the recently released documentary, Healing Justice. This moving documentary looks at the school-to-prison pipeline and highlights the importance of healing and restorative practices in schools to support students who have experienced trauma. The meeting included presentations from Jenee Littrell, administrator of Safe and Supportive Schools for the San Mateo County Office of Education (SMCOE), and Bettina Graf, Restorative Justice Coordinator for San Mateo Union High School District and SMCOE. Attendees left the meeting inspired to introduce restorative practices into their schools. Many attendees requested screening the movie for staff in their district.
