Guidelines for Schools Re-opening
Education across the globe was changed overnight due to the COVID-19 pandemic and San Mateo Schools were no exception. As classes shifted online, teachers, students, families, and support staff had to adjust their approach to education. California State Superintendent of Schools, Tony Thurmond, recently released the guidance for schools to follow as they plan to re-open in the fall. Based on those guidelines, San Mateo County Office of Education has released their Pandemic Recovery Framework, which outlines the steps schools need to make in order to re-open. School will continue to look different, but hopefully most schools will be able to allow for some in-person instruction along with continued web-based learning. As we move forward, we need to ensure that equity is at the center of our education policy and that all students have every opportunity for a high-quality education.
