Community Alliance with Family Farmers Is Feeding Our Most Vulnerable Youth
In partnership with the Community Alliance with Family Farmers’s (CAFF), Second Harvest Food Bank, school district’s food service directors, and the county’s University of California Cooperative Extension, we continue to work on expanding school breakfast in Daly City and South San Francisco schools to decrease hunger and food insecurity. South San Francisco High School will be implementing a Breakfast After the Bell program to increase opportunities for students to be provided breakfast on campus. In Jefferson Elementary School District, CAFF used Get Healthy SMC grant funds to purchase equipment that will allow the school to provide healthy breakfast options to its students this coming year. Kids have a hard time learning when they are hungry.
