The City of East Palo Alto continues to seek community input on their draft Affordable Housing Strategy. This document will guide policies and programs to ensure existing and future residents have a place to call home. A final draft strategy is expected to be released by late summer. In the meantime, at the April 24 City Council meeting, councilmembers directed staff to move ahead with one of the recommendations, which is to develop a request for proposals to build affordable housing on a public parcel. We applaud the City for its commitment to support stable housing for residents. Stable and affordable housing is a key factor of healthy communities.
