The Safe Routes to School Grant, that was rolled out in June by San Mateo County Office of Education in partnership with the City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) of San Mateo, was awarded to 19 grantees across the county, including some schools that are of priority based on the high rates of poverty and/or bike/pedestrian collisions near these schools. Funding of $105,000 was allocated to infrastructure and special projects, and $236,660 for education and encouragement. A mini-grants opportunity will be available in the coming months.
