Did you know 39% of all bike and pedestrian collisions occur within a quarter mile of a school? On 9/26, about 40 people joined the San Mateo County School Wellness Alliance to dive into safe, accessible transportation options in the county for youth. Local law enforcement discussed teen driving, planners reviewed the SMC Collision Report, and a panel discussed youth mobility. Get Healthy SMC will be working with the County Office of Education’s Safe Routes to School  Coordinator and our partners throughout the county to encourage more schools and cities to implement safer routes for students and families to walk, ride a bike and use transit, especially those in areas where more collisions are occurring. ​
