Last month, the Philadelphia City Council approved a 1.5 cent/ounce tax on sugary drinks to help make the healthy choice the easy choice. Philly joins Berkeley as being the first two cities to pass tax measures on sugary drinks. In other sugary drink news, our neighbors in San Francisco also heard that their safety warnings on sugary drink advertisements are fair game under the First Amendment. According to a Field Research poll, 4 out of 5 voters in California support a warning label on sugary drinks.
