County adopts Affordable Housing Impact Fee and Housing Preservation Fund
Our Board of Supervisors unanimously passed an Affordable Housing Impact Fee that will generate funding for construction of affordable housing throughout the County. The Board also approved a $10 million fund to help preserve currently affordable rental units. Both these programs will help provide and maintain housing that allows people to be healthy and build roots in San Mateo County. The Board has also funded outreach for shared housing and a landlord and tenant information hotline and referral service. The Board is also considering additional housing measures that will launch in the next few months developed by the Closing the Jobs/Housing Gap Task Force. The Task Force, which included over 50 members from all segments of the county, met monthly over the last year to learn about the nuanced housing issues faced in San Mateo County, and create an action plan to promote more “housing for all” in San Mateo County.
